September Agenda in Castelló d’Empúries, Empuriabrava and Roses
What to do this September: festivals, culture, guided tours and nature (with taxi transfers)
September arrives on the Costa Brava with a calendar full of living history, tradition, sea and hiking. If you want to enjoy Castelló d’Empúries, Empuriabrava and Roses without worrying about parking or getting around, rely on Taxi Cipri: we’ll take you there and pick you up at the agreed time from Roses and Empuriabrava.
1) Terra de Trobadors (Castelló d’Empúries) — 12–14 September
The Alt Empordà’s great medieval festival returns with a market, jousts, street performances, music and family activities all weekend long. A must to see the old town turned into a medieval village.
2) National Day of Catalonia — 11 September
On 11 September you’ll find institutional events and cultural activities in nearby towns (floral tributes, sardana dancing, concerts and visits). It’s a perfect day to combine local culture with a stroll through historic centres.
3) Guided visits to the Roses Fishing Port
Learn how the fish auction works at the fish market, what is caught in the bay and watch the boats arrive. Several dates are scheduled throughout the month; for example, 12/09/2025 lists a specific guided visit on the official agenda. The September calendar also includes versions such as visit + showcooking and themed outings.
Other highlights in Roses (September):
-
Snorkelling (3 Sept) to discover the seabed.
-
Military stories at Punta Falconera (4 Sept), a heritage route.
-
Port visit + showcooking (5 Sept).
-
Havaneres (sea songs) at Platja de la Punta (5 Sept, evening).
Check the municipal agenda for further dates and bookings.
4) Alt Empordà Hiking Festival — 26–28 September
The festival returns with guided routes through natural areas, heritage and gastronomy (Aiguamolls wetlands, castles, dry-stone heritage, sea and mountains…). A great chance to walk with a guide and discover lesser-known spots. Confirmed dates: 26–28/09/2025.
Featured plan within the festival (Castelló d’Empúries):
-
“Sunset at the old Castelló lagoon” (27/09, 16:30–20:00), a 10 km circular walk starting at the Ecomuseu Farinera. Paid activity with limited places.
5) More culture and the weekly market in Castelló d’Empúries
Throughout the month you’ll find exhibitions at the Ecomuseu Farinera and regular cultural programming; the weekly market is also a great excuse to stroll and buy local produce. Check the municipal agenda the week of your visit for times and confirmations.
